Simbakubwa stock image
A Simbakubwa stalks the savannah in what is now Kenya, about 22 million years ago. Although its name means “great lion,” Simbakubwa wasn't a cat, but a hyaenodont, an extinct group of carnivorous mammals common in the Miocene.
